Volkswagen of America - mobile site

Volkswagen of America which is usually at the high-end of technology (just like some other automakers) is going “smart” mobile, with a launch of the smartphone-optimized mobile website. Located at m.vw.com, the new site is compatible with “all web-enabled cell phones and mobile devices,” whatever that means. Actually, I think they refer to the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone, Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre as well as a number of Android-powered devices.

Feature wise, the new site has most of the content the company’s regular website has, with the difference that it is optimized for a smaller screen. In that sense, users can browse for latest Volkswagen vehicles, find a local dealership, and eventually contact them. Additionally, users can also download some mobile content (ringtones and wallpapers) free of charge.

Finally, in case you’re wondering, interactive agency AKQA is behind the project.
