AT&T Jobs - iPhone app

AT&T (NYSE: T) is so into iPhone that it has recently launched a free dedicated application to provide job seekers with an on-the-go access to job opportunities across its network. Not surprisingly, AT&T Jobs is the first app of its kind.

Using the application, you mimic accessing the AT&T’s jobs career portal. The interface is optimized for the iPhone use, allowing you to quickly access all the information and features you could possibly need — including learning about AT&T’s history, searching for local openings and eventually forwarding them to friends, locating career fairs where AT&T is attending, joining AT&T Talent Network to be informed about latest job opportunities at the company. In addition, there are “day in the life” videos which showcase various roles and responsibilities within AT&T.

I’m not sure what to think about AT&T Jobs. It’s a good idea to provide potential employees with as much information as you possibly can, but is developing the app really worth the carrier’s resources? If that’s the case, I would expect to see T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) doing something similar for Android smartphones. ;)

Actually, no it’s not the first job seeker application. The Palm Pre has “jobr” (http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-apps/jobr) which was first made available in July. It is based on INdeed.co.
