O2 Slovakia offers Fring to its customers

Fring had some great news to share recently, as O2 (NYSE: TEF) Slovakia is testing how its users like the popular VoIP/multi-network IM client — subscribers of O2 can grab Fring free of charge from a dedicated page on O2’s website. The idea seems to promote O2’s unlimited data offering with a great application that takes advantage of 3G connection, allowing users to chat with their friends on Skype, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Talk, ICQ, Twitter, AIM and other popular IM/social networks. The application is available for a variety of phones, including those that are Java-enabled, as well as smartphones running Symbian or Windows Mobile. iPhone version is also available, but that’s another story.
Anyway, it’s good to see Fring teaming up with a carrier, and considering it’s O2 we’re talking about here — if everything goes as planned — I wouldn’t be surprised to see them extending the Fring offer to other markets they serve. We certainly wish all the best to the Fring folks.

Hi, but O2 Slovakia has not got 3G technology, only EDGE. And they are not planning to build a 3G now…
