blackberry_logoOver the weekend, the big-ish news on the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) scene appeared to be a list of devices targetted to get the OS 5.0 update. Of course, some that may be packing a slightly older Berry may have been wondering if and when they could get their hands on 5.0… And now, we can say with certainty which devices are getting 5.0, and which ones are not. Below is the list of BlackBerry devices supported for OS 5.0:

  • BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8200 series smartphones
  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphones
  • BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphones
  • BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphones
  • BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphones
  • BlackBerry Storm 9500 series smartphones
  • BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphones

So there you have it. If your BlackBerry isn’t covered on the list, it looks like you’re out of luck. The reason your device may have been left out is lack of memory. According to a knowledge base article on BlackBerry.com, the new OS requires at least 64MB of memory.

Let the OS 5.0 releases start rolling in. We’ve already witnessed 5.0 for the Verizon Storm 9530 earlier today… I wonder how much more 5.0 goodness we’ll see this week?
