Now that we know the Storm2 is hitting us on Wednesday, we can speculate what might have been the cause of the delay. One of the more probable reasons is the launch of OS 5.0 for Verizon Storm 9530 customers. I’d suspect Verizon wanted to get 5.0 out-the-door for existing Storm users, you know, show some love before the new-and-improved Storm hit the scene… and it looks like that’s exactly what happened.

OS 5.0.0.328 has gone all official on Verizon. To get started, simply fire up your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software… it should be there for you to download and install. If that doesn’t do the trick, try hitting up http://vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry.

Once you get ‘er running, be sure to let us know what you think of 5.0 on the Storm. Should be good!

Note: In case you missed it, the Storm2 was announced on Verizon a little earlier today. Availability October 28th, for $179.99 on a 2-year deal.

I think I may have stumbled on to a solution for texting while driving!

"SMS Replier allows the user to comfortably focus on operating their vehicle and know that any callers or text messages that are inbound, will not go unanswered. Instead, their inbound contact has been answered with a responsible message that the recipient is driving and will contact them in the near future. SMS Replier, by utilizing the phones onboard GPS systems, is able to identify if the phone is traveling at a speed greater than 15 miles per hour. If the user is driving, a message is sent. If the user is not traveling, the message is not sent. If the mobile phone is in the possession of a passenger in another’s vehicle or in public transportation, the passenger can disable the Auto Reply system. Visit us at smsreplier.com"

This seems like a great idea!
