Palm Pixi coming to Sprint on November 15th for $100 on a 2 year contract, minimum $70/month

The Palm Pixi, which was announced during the beginning of September, but without information regarding pricing or availability, is now a little closer to Sprint customers grubby little hands. Quick recall of the specification sheet:

  • 2.63-inch multi-touch screen, 18-bit color, 320×400 resolution
  • GPS
  • 2 megapixel fixed focus camera
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 8 GB of storage built in
  • Qualcomm MSM7627 chipset
  • 55 mm x 111 mm x 10.85 mm; 99.5 grams

It’s coming to Sprint on November 15th for, and I’m going to quote this so I get it right: “It will cost just $99.99 with a two-year service agreement, after a $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate”. Why can’t they just let you have it for $99.99 out the door is beyond me. The cheapest plan that will get you this device will cost you $69.99/month; Sprint will not give you this thing without unlimited data.

    1. The do mail-in rebates because the percentage of customers who actually properly fill out the form and submit the rebate is so small. The vast majority of customers will end up just paying $199 and call it a day.

    2. The $70/month plan is technically unlimited *everything*. It includes unlimited messaging, data, and all of Sprint’s services (GPS, SprintTV, etc). It’s their ‘any mobile any time’ plan, too. Basically, you only get 450 anytime minutes, but the only time you would ever use those is when you call a landline – calls to *any* cell phone in the U.S. are free. Unless you do a lot of conference calls, it’s basically unlimited.

    It’s the best deal from any carrier right now, IMO.

    best deal if they happen to have coverage in your area. i couldnt get a sprint signal with a 10 foot antenna at my house!

    Not bad for an entry level phone and I’m sure people will be able to grab the device cheaper the closer that we get to the holiday season.
