Verizon to ask $99 for the Droid Eris?

Droid Eris

Good news for Android fans looking for a bargain. It seems that Verizon (NYSE: VZ) will ask hundred bucks for the Droid Eris with a contract. As far as we know, the HTC-made smartphone will be launched on the same day as the Moto Droid and the carrier obviously needs to differentiate the offering. If they would price both devices the same amount, the choice would be obvious – get the QWERTY keyboard equipped Motorola (NYSE: MOT).

Now we’re thinking how will this impact Sprint (NYSE: S)’s $180 Hero offering? Yap, they’ll need to cut prices immediately. Don’t you just love when consumers win? ;)

HTC Droid Eris is a very capable phone , a tweaked version of Sprint`s well reviewed HERO which has pinch-zoom via the wonderful HTC GUI. Supposed to have good battery life as well as a 1500miliamp hr battery. T mobile is pushing out Android 1.6 to their HERO phones right now. this is a great phone at a great price. I know i am getting it, share your views with me at http://www.Droid-Eris.com a fans site for Droid Eris.
