Time for a little off-beat fun. Ever want to throw down your mobile device, take a break, sip some whiskey and get involved in a rousing game of chess? I know I don’t. But if I did, chances are I’d pick up the Jack Daniel’s Lynchburg Chess Set for $197.50.

The description:

Highly-detailed, sculpted and painted pieces complimented by a top-quality wooden board branded with the Jack Daniel’s logo. Board doubles as a carrying case for the pieces. Comes in a gift box that includes detailed photographs of the individual pieces and historical/trivia information. This is one beautiful chess set!

Commemorate your love of deep thinking, the American Civil War, and smooth Tennessee sippin’ with this beauty of a chess set. Check it out here.

Happy Wednesday :)

If you have a friend who plays chess, and youre thinking about giving this set as a gift… Well dont.
Chess players hate these kind of things, its akin to…
Well say that you have a hobby or a sport that requries you to wear certain clothes or use some gear, like tennis shoes and a racket, and you were given as a gift a novelty racket with flashing lights incorporated into the handle who would flash everytime you would hit the ball or shake the racket.
Fun for about 30 seconds, after that you would probably hide it away in the addict never to be used again.
Same thing goes for these novelty chess sets, and no they dont look good standing in the living room either.

So to recap, dont buy it as a gift and, dont reccomend it as a gift to someone who plays chess.
