playboy-iphone-3We all know why we read Playboy magazine – for the articles and op-ed pieces. At least that’s what us guys are always claiming to be the reason we subscribe to Heff’s perspective on the objectification of women. You may not have thought all those white lies could ever catch up with you, but today you’re in for a rude awakening. Playboy has just released its first iPhone app to cater to all you supposed Playboy article-readers – stripping out any and all nudity in the process. You see what happens when you lie?

Seriously, though, the new Playboy iPhone app is now available in the AppStore for $1.99 (iTunes link). There was no way Apple was going to let Playboy sully its good name with classy images of women in the buff, so Playboy went the editorial route with their app. It features articles from Playboy magazines, an introduction to the Playmate of the month, and videos of each Playmate’s photo shoot. And, once Playboy updates its app next week, you’ll be able to use it to order dead-tree editions of past Playboy issues directly from the app.

What do you think? Is it worth paying a couple bucks for what you’ve been claiming are the “best” parts of Playboy all these years? We thought not.
