Nokia-Booklet-3GFor those of you wishing for a cheap, always-connected netbook that cranks out a full work day on a single charge while still managing to keep things slim and stylish (aluminum chassis FTW), the Nokia Booklet 3G might be just what you’re looking for. But, with a $299 price tag that requires you to sign up for two years of AT&T data service, the Booklet 3G isn’t a cheap netbook. So, Best Buy decided to sweeten the pot for mobile road warriors by dropping the price of the Booklet 3G to just $199 when purchase with a new 2-year contract from AT&T.

For that price, the Booklet 3G is almost a steal. Its sexy aluminum body is as slim as it is striking. It’s powered by an Intel Atom processor that runs Windows 7 Starter Edition for a claimed 12 hours (although you’re more likely to get around 8 hours, which is still amazing!). It packs an HDMI port with HD video-out capability, a video-chat camera, Bluetooth, SD card reader, GPS, 3G data connectivity and a 10.1-inch display. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better bang for your tech-buck.

Now, the only question is – are you willing to commit yourself to a couple years of AT&T service? Tempting, no?

saving $180 the first year and every year there after. you can get a nokia n95 for around $100 on ebay now or a newer nokia (sony ericsson’s work as well. i used to do this with my k850i) and you only pay the dumbphone unlimited plan of $15…not the $30 plus some phones charge $60 a month for unlimited and tethering…i can even hook it up wirelessly w/ bluetooth@!

I bought one when it came out and it’s been great. Faster with win7 than one would think from blog and news comments, and critically good is that with it one does not have to worry about running out of battery full day. Being always online with in-built hardware and not an awkward dongle one can lose, is also very nice. AT&T WiFI/3G Connection Manager however could be a tiny notch better, it has crashed on me twice and is slightly confused of my vpn though it does work. There is also a cheaper 200MB/Mo AT&T data plan ($35 a month) so the package certainly is not that expensive, especially if I compare it to the Macbook Air I also use. And besides not needing constant recharging, the Nokia hard disk is 50% larger in capacity than that in the Macbook Air.
