‘The O2′ is a venue in the UK where O2, the well-known Mobile Operator, sponsor a huge space, that is run by leading events company AEG Live. The ‘huge space’ was previously the ‘Millenium Dome’ and whilst I could go on about the disaster that was the Government-funded project, instead I’ll say that O2 and AEG have now got, in my opinion at least, the premier venue in the UK for live acts. The O2 also doubles as a massive multiplex cinema, shopping arcade, and just generally excellent place to be!
So it’s superb news to hear that there’s a New Years Event that is going to kick like a mule! Ministry of Sound (I’m not going to explain; look them up!) is running an event that has the cream of modern club scene in the UK and Europe. Check this little lot out:
Calvin Harris
Deadmau5
Example
Justice
Dave Spoon
Eric Prydz
Dang! That is a dream-team line-up! You could buy tracks by any of these guys and get music that is worth paying for – and you could also choose to go to event – I know I’ll be aiming to get some tickets, that’s for sure!
I’d imagine in the New Year there could even be some mobile-associated content related to this (hey, who know, maybe even before!) – but even if there isn’t, thank your lucky stars that O2 have got their hands on this venue and made it the place to be on NYE!
Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career
when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has
now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the
next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas!
He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently
became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years
when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to
'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make
your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device)
isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question
of why you continue to use it...
His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and
infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the
occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience
in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with
regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.
