NeoReaderNeoMedia Technologies is bringing its barcode scanning app to another platform – Android, allowing users to instantly access mobile content by clicking on — actually that’s pointing their phone to — 2D barcodes.

I presume you know how barcode scanning apps work, so I won’t go into details. I’ll only pass along NeoMedia CEO, Iain McCready’s words: “Bringing the NeoReader to the high growth Android platform brings us ever closer to mass market adoption of 2D barcodes. Android’s commitment to the OHA (open handset alliance) matches NeoMedia’s own objective of achieving open standards in order to drive rapid market growth and consumer adoption. With the ubiquity of the mobile web and the plethora of emergent mobile technology applications, there has never been a better time to get involved in this exciting marketplace.”

The application is still not in the Android Market (coming soon), hence to grab it – you’ll have to visit get.neoreader.com in your mobile browser, and the Android version will automatically download to compatible handsets.

    In my opinion:

The best reader for android based phones is Barcode Scanner (developed by Google) or ShopSavvy (bought by Google)

The best reader for iPhone is the Quickmark Reader (partner of Google on iPhone)

The best reader for Blackberry is the internal scanner that comes with Blackberry Messenger 5.0

The BlackBerry barcode reader seems to have a hard time with more complex/dense QR codes. Otherwise, I agree with your list!
