It seems Sonim’s super-ruggedized XP3 Quest is merely mortal, after all. The ruggedized phone maker was at CES 2010, showing off their new “unbreakable” handset and asking anyone and everyone to give it their best shot to break the handset. Sonim even offered a free phone to anyone that managed to break the phone that they claim could withstand a 10-story drop, a swim in 20-feet of water, and could actually be used to hammer nails. Well, one BBC reporter took the company up on their offer and did his damnedest to put the hurt on the XP3 Quest and, wouldn’t you know it, he actually managed to break the handset’s display.

To his credit, the Sonim CEO handled the unexpected situation pretty well. The CEO couldn’t help but laugh as the reporter apologized for actually accomplishing what he set out to do. Check out the video of the hilarious incident at the BBC’s Click website.

It is amazing that if you see the video, still the phone works. And anyway Sonim phones are covered by a three year unconditional warranty, which other phones don’t have.
