iPhone SteadyCam ‘Smoothee’ – Useless until iPhone supports HD video recording

iphone-smoothee-steadycamThe iPhone isn’t the best video recording platform out there, but that hasn’t stopped third-party accessory makers from making iPhone add-ons that help you make smooth video and stream it to the web. The latest iPhone video recording accessory is something that might not be all that useful until the iPhone supports high-resolution video recording, but it sure is nice to know that the option is out there. Enter the iPhone “Smoothee.” It’s a SteadyCam rig that gives your iPhone more weight and girth, allowing you to shoot smooth, jitter-free video.

Still, we have to ask how useful an iPhone SteadyCam device will be, considering the iPhone doesn’t exactly record high-quality video, not to mention HD video. Do you really need super-smooth video at crappy resolutions? We might just be HD-snobs, but it’s still a valid question.

We’ll revisit the issue when the next-generation iPhone launches with HD video recording capabilities (hopefully).
