This week, Mass Effect 2 was released on the Xbox 360 & PC platforms. Mass Effect 2 picks up two years after the events of the original Mass Effect. That certainly is a long time for nothing to happen. That’s where Dark Horse Comics’ Mass Effect: Redemption comes in.
Mass Effect: Redemption is penned by the Mac Walters, the game’s lead writer, and it links up to the events that ended in Mass Effect to the beginning of Mass Effect 2. The four part series was first supposed to be released as a comic, but Dark Horse Comics announced the comic series will be made available on the iPhone / iPod Touch platform on Feb. 3rd.
The iPhone adaptation of Mass Effect: Redemption brings the comic book experience right to your iPhone. Readers can flip through the comic’s virtual pages back and forth with a simple swipe of the finger. There’s also an option that performs a slideshow that moves between pages, leaving you hands-free so you can chomp on some Cheetos while reading. You can even go as far as configuring the ‘Transition’ to a page curl, fading from image to image, or sliding as well as how long each frame will play for.
If you’re interested in picking up Mass Effect: Redemption for the iPhone, Dark Horse Comics says it will initially be available for free, before going up to a $.99 price point. If I were you, I’d make a little mark on my calendar to pick it up while it’s free. Until then, be sure to take a gander at some of the comic’s pages straight from the iPhone version below.
