A new study by Coda Research Consultancy has found that WiFi enabled mobile handset penetration in the U.S. will grow at 25% CAGR between end of 2009 and 2015, to reach 149 million in 2015. In other words, the US will account for 66% of all WiFi-enabled mobile handset shipments in 2015 — kinda hard to believe, but you never know.
As expected, the large chunk of this growth will come from new smartphones — two thirds of WiFi hotspot connections will be via smartphones in 2015.
And in terms of 802.11n standard adoption, Coda Research believes 95% of all WiFi-enabled smartphones will employ this version of the standard by 2015… Additional information is available from Coda’s website, from where you can also purchase the report.
