Mobile World Congress is taking place in Barcelona this year, as usual, and the weather has been absolutely terrible. All this rain and freezing temperatures. Will and I however, both owners of the Google Nexus One, couldn’t be any happier. OLED screens, as beautiful as they are, frankly don’t work that well outside. Before I left for Spain I was in Texas, and let me tell you, I was hugely disappointed when I first took my Nexus One outside and tried to check my email. You have to hold the phone in one hand and then put your other hand over the display to act as a shade.

Samsung’s latest mobile phone, the Wave, fixes this. It has their new super OLED screen that’s 3.3 inch screen packs 800 x 480 pixels. They’ll start mass producing these displays next month and are going to be selling them to other device manufactures, so expect to see this kind of screen quality become more and common place. All these pixels, all these inches, OLED is made to give us awesome battery life, but usually at the expense of outdoor visibility.

Not anymore.
