When Google Goggles came out, it brought with it a lot of promises, a lot of hype, but failed to deliver an amazing experience. Letting you search via typing, speaking, and snapping photos is all well and good for people who want choice, but in most cases you type in what you want faster than any other input method.

But what about translation? Typing words in a language you don’t know can be time consuming since you’re bound to make spelling mistakes, and for some languages you may not even have the proper keys on your physical, or even virtual, keyboard. Snapping a photograph and then translating said text would be an awesome use case, and today Google is showing that off.

It isn’t available for you to play with, it only works for German, but Google hopes to bring this out to market soon, and for it to support the current 52 languages that are on Google Translate.
