Cricket adds Samsung Stunt, too

Cricket’s first device for this year is everything but impressive. It’s the Samsung Stunt (R100), which the carrier is offering for $99 sans any short, medium and long term commitments.

We’re talking about a basic handset with slim design and such “features” as 128×160 pixels color screen, mobile web, Bluetooth, email and voice commands. Additionally, the Stunt can sing along the carrier’s Cricket Games & Apps and MyBackup services.

Cricket is not the first small carrier in the U.S. to offer the Samsung Stunt. Back in December 2009, MetroPCS has added the phone to its offering.

And while we’re at MetroPCS, we still haven’t heard any news regarding the potential merger (or that’s acquisition) with Cricket (Leap Wireless), even though both companies have hired investment banks (Cricket got Goldman Sachs and MetroPCS – JP Morgan) and the overall feeling in the industry is that consolidation should take place.
