webOS developers have received an e-mail regarding the international launch of paid applications in Palm’s App Catalog – specifically, that markets in Canada and Mexico will open at the same time as Europe. Earlier tips already hinted at a European webOS App Catalog launching sometime late this month, so that gives us some timeline of when to expect Canada and Mexico to get their own.

The selection of webOS apps have been aided considerably by a homebrew market, but widespread developer interest in the official Catalog has to date been pretty sad, and the device uptake by end users has been equally rough. Perhaps this added monetary incentive and some new tools will win some developers’ hearts. Premium apps have been available on the Palm Pre since August, so it hasn’t been that much of a lag to get going in the rest of the world. RIM, by comparison, took only three to four months from the initial North American/UK launch to hit Europe.

In any case, we await paid webOS apps in Canada with bated breath.
