StarHunt iPhone game sounds stupid, but is actually fun

A company called Cogniflame is joining the iPhone gaming scene with a brand new title called StarHunt. Just as the name says, the goal is to collect all the stars in a large house. I know, it sounds super stupid and only kids could find that interesting, but that’s actually not the case. At least I like it.

The game takes place in a large pre-rendered 3D house, which looks awesome with tons of little details. Your goal is to explore the heck out of that house and find stars (200 per game) in every room. To succeed, you’ll need to open cupboards and drawers, look behind furniture and through bookshelves, and outside amongst rocks and bushes.

You can think of it as a meaningless (your only goal is to collect the friggin’ stars) point-and-click adventure game, made up of over a thousand detailed still-frames.

Finally, as you progress and become an expert in discovering stars, you may want to share your achievements. You can do that thanks to the OpenFeint integration, which allows sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

Hmm – funny, my first thought was the same as yours – “that sounds kind of dull” – but as I read further in our description, it sounds more like I might want to give it a try. I have not yet played with the Open Feint games and I’m interested in seeing what that’s about.
