I guess we knew someone is working on such a project – a whole new conference dedicated to mobile applications. It’s called APPCON and it kicks on Tuesday, August 24 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

The idea is to create a neutral place where all interested parties — developers, device and accessory makers, and carriers — would meet to share ideas, network and learn something from each other.

Here are the highlights:

  • Full 8 hours of uninterrupted exhibit time for demonstration of apps, tools and platform innovations.
  • Indie Alley – for small, independent app developers to show off their creations.
  • App-centered learning tracks – more than 40 educational sessions spread across multiple tracks including developer, corporate IT and business track.
  • Pre-conference Hello World session – that is designed to help attendees get up to speed quickly on app technology before the technical sessions begin in earnest.
  • Fast Pitch – where companies can pitch their ideas to other interested parties.

And that’s about it. You can get additional information, including how to register for the event, from APPCON’s website. We’ll certainly cover anything interesting that comes out of the conference…

The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application.
