Sometimes I’m very happy to be living in the United States because an Indian couple in Dubai received a three-month jail sentence for sending racy text messages to each other.

The judge ruled the pair, who were in their 40s, were about to “commit sin,” and the text messages indicated they were going to have an extra marital affair (which is illegal in Dubai). They were originally going to have to serve six months and then be deported, but a later ruling said the text messages weren’t enough proof that they did the deed. With my SMS logs, I’m fairly certain I’d be in jail if we had strict laws like that where I live. This type of ruling always makes me take another look at something like TigerText to erase my records.
