LG announces 3rd annual “Design the Future” competition with more than $80,000 in prizes

LG Mobile Phones is partnering with crowdSPRING (online marketplace for creative services) and Autodesk to hold a competition to “define the future of mobile communication.” The goal is to design the “next revolutionary LG mobile phone” and compete for more than $80,000 in prizes.

Speaking of prizes, here’s what you can win:

  • First Place: $20,000 cash award + 1 Wacom Intuos4 medium tablet (a $349 value) + Autodesk industrial design software (a $500 value)
  • Second Place: $10,000 cash award + Autodesk SketchBook Pro software (a $100 value)
  • Third Place: $5,000 cash award + Autodesk SketchBook Pro software (a $100 value)
  • Prop Master’s Choice: $3,000 cash award + Autodesk SketchBook Pro software (a $100 value) + 1 non-working concept mock-up creation (a $4,000 value)
  • 37 Honorable Mentions: $1,000 cash award

The competition begins on March 15, 2010, at 12 a.m. PST and ends on April 26, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. PST. Winners will be announced on May 14, 2010 on crowdSPRING’s website. Any U.S. resident can participate, and you can read Official rules from here.

Hint: If you want IntoMobile points, make sure to include a large touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard. (though we don’t have any relations with the competition)  ;)
