The SDK for version 1.2 of Nokia’s Maemo powered N900 has just been uploaded, along with several screenshots showing off new features. Most notable is a new soft keyboard that finally places the third row of a QWERTY keyboard at a bit of an offset. Also in place is the ability to turn on/off screen rotation in the browser, and speaking of the browser, it has an updated rendering engine that Maemo.org forum member “MohammadAG” is calling “uber quick”.

No word as to when Nokia’s N900 will receive an update to version 1.2. Sorry.

We’re more interested in the Maemo 6 (MeeGo 1) device due to hit the market by the end of this year.

Why do they contiue to be clueless…. why no @ sign on the home keyboard…. like in the 770??? Also one hopes they have the sense to abandon the hardware keyboard which adds too much thickness and keep the resistive touch screen which works with a stylus! Some of us have carpal tunnel in our thumbs and more will be getting it if they thumb board insanity continues
