This is not exactly what you would call a mobile-related news item, but it’s somewhat related so we’re going with it.

The Swedish company called “People of Lava” is working on what seems as the first Android-powered TV set. Initially, they plan to release a 42-inch product, which will be followed by 47 and 55-inch models soon afterwards. Beta testing is set to begin in early summer when hopefully we’ll learn more about these (large) babies.

But it’s not like we don’t have a clue what’s included in the deal. People of Lava talk about full HD experience and the ability to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse. Moreover, there’s a standard suite of Google apps and services, including Google Maps, YouTube, browser, email; as well as Facebook and Twitter. We’re not sure, though, how or whether the existing mobile apps will run on a big screen of Lava TV.

Finally the price – the Lava TVs will sell for anywhere between $2,000 and $2,500, and I assume they talk about the initial 42-inch model. In other words, this won’t be something every Average Joe will buy, but only well paid geeks in the community…
