Samsung Sweden has confirmed that a free firmware upgrade is coming for the Omnia II users. The update will bring the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS (6.5.3) along with several other improvements. Most notable change will tackle Omnia’s touchscreen, making touch response much faster and intuitive. In addition, they talk about improved UI, which I’m guessing will look more like the Wave (TouchWIZ 3.0).
As for the dates, a new firmware is set to be released in the latter half of May. Soon afterwards, the Korean giant will ship all Omnia II devices with Windows Mobile 6.5.3 pre-installed.
In a conclusion I’ll add that it’s good to see Omnia II isn’t taking the same road as the I7500 Galaxy, which as you may know, has been totally forgotten by Samsung, prompting users’ rage on our site. Hopefully, the company’s Android team will rethink that decision to keep their Galaxy buyers happy, as well. 😉
