What do you get when you mix a social-networking touchscreen handset with one of the hottest new movie releases of 2010? You get Samsung’s new Monte Iron Man 2 special edition kinda-smartphone on the O2 network. To celebrate – or, more like leverage the movie’s popularity – Samsung has announced a special edition version of their TouchWiz OS-powered Samsung Monte.
The handset sports an Iron Man 2 theme and comes with a microSD card that’s pre-loaded with the original Iron Man movie. The black-on-yellow color scheme isn’t exactly Iron Man-themed, but it does give the special edition Monte a certain flair that’s sure to turn some heads.
Aside from the bundled movie and the eye-catching color scheme, there really isn’t anything else about the Monte Iron Man 2 phone that’s different from any other vanilla Monte. It features a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G data, GPS, WiFi, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and runs a TouchWiz 2.0 Plus UI. There’s no Bada OS on this handset, but it’s likely going to have a similar feel to the for-the-masses smartphone OS that Samsung is pushing with the Samsung Wave.
The Samsung Monte will be a limited edition device, and will go on sale on May 1. You can pick one up from O2.
