Iron Man 2′s release is creeping ever so closely and comic book fanboys are counting down the the days (just 4 left!) until the movie is finally released. If you want to keep up on all things Iron Man to prepare you for this weekend’s big event, then you might want to download the newly released Iron Man Central app.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. This is probably some silly app that was released to take advantage of the upcoming Iron Man craze. You’re half right. It certainly was released to take advantage of Iron Man 2′s upcoming release, but this is anything but a silly little app. Marvel worked closely with app developer Zumobi to make this app the ultimate resource for iPhone Iron Man fans, both hardcore and newbies.  Marvel also promises that the Iron Man Central app won’t simply die after the movie is released.  They’re committed to continually pushing out regular content, which is something I’m certainly excited about.

The app includes the origins of Iron Man, various videos, wallpaper, news, and even the ability to buy tickets to Iron Man 2 within the app. And for you social networking nuts out there, you can share anything you like from the app to both your Twitter & Facebook accounts.

I’m certainly interested to see how dedicated Marvel will be with the Iron Man Central app, and more importantly, how interested the public will be in the app once the hype over the movie dies down.  Regardless of that, this is still a solid app for you hardcore Iron Man fans.  Now if only The Hulk & Spider-Man could get the same respect.
