Microsoft and Nokia are teaming up to help mobile workers stay connected and the companies said it will be bringing the software giant’s Communicator Mobile to E-Series devices like the E72.

Communicator Mobile is a unified communications client used in enterprises to enables a broader way to collaborate. For example, you’ll be able to see who is available any time and on what platform (phone, IM, cell). The app will let you make a call, send a text or e-mail, or start an instant message conversation directly from the address book.

“This application really provides a much more efficient way to work with others, as you can see if someone is busy or available and the best way to start a conversation with them,” said Ukko Lappalainen, VP at Nokia, in a prepared statement. “It also meets all of the requirements for the enterprise: cost-effective to implement, secure, familiar and reliable.”

The app is currently in the Ovi Store and it will work with select E-Series devices like the E71, E72 and the E52. Nokia also said it would be preloaded on future business-centric devices like the the E5. This is another byproduct of the steamy relationship between the two companies, which was announced last August. We’ve already seen a mobile version of Office hit Nokia devices, so look for more enterprise-oriented apps to come to Nokia’s phones in the future.
