The recent update to Android’s Gowalla app has been followed up with a roughly equivalent one for webOS, including stuff like comments and picture uploading for particular spots. Searching and filtering spots is included in this update, which came to iPhone awhile back, as well as a redesigned passport, the ability to peruse trips made by friends, and enhanced GPS usage. A new feature I don’t remember seeing on the other platforms is the ability to browse your friends’ Twitter and Facebook profiles through Gowalla.

If you’ve never heard of it, Gowalla is a location-based check-in application that allows you to create and share “spots” that you visit using your mobile phone. You get various badges for checking in to these spots (some unique ones for signature locations), and can leave collectible virtual items.

I’m curious if Gowalla could plug in to Synergy at all – it sure would be cool to see a contact’s latest check-in in the address book. Head over to Gowalla’s site to learn more about the service, or go ahead and get downloading at the various links below.
