1GOAL: Education for All is a novel project with noble mission to get every child into school by 2015. We applaud all the parties involved in such a goal, including the celebrities, world cup stars and mobile phone companies.

Speaking of mobile companies — the part that we cover here at IntoMobile — operators from all around the world came together to reach more than 1.5 billion people and give them an opportunity to show their support for 1GOAL. In that sense, over 1 billion text messages is slated to be sent out to people in the coming weeks.

As for the celebrities and world cup stars involved, there are more than 140 of them signed up, including entertainment stars such as Shakira, Jessica Alba, Kevin Spacey; and biggest names in football (soccer) like Alessandro del Piero, Rio Ferdinand, Zinedine Zidane and Michael Essien.

At the moment, the world spends about $4 billion on primary education and the “1GOAL” is to see this figure reaching $16 billion, which is the amount needed to provide the basic knowledge to every child in the world. Love the missing and I’m happy to report about it! :)

If you’re one of the folks who will receive a text message with 1GOAL’s message, all you have to do is respond “YES.” Alternatively, you can visit 1goal.mobi from your mobile web browser or send an email to info@join1goal.org. Handset manufacturers Nokia and Samsung will also be making available a 1GOAL mobile app for their customers.

Signups from the 1GOAL mobile campaign will be presented as a petition to world leaders at an education summit later this year urging both developing and developed countries to provide further funding for education.
