Wow. Talk about a case you can’t take into public. It’s certainly not the first time we’ve seen mobile and gunplay in a bizarre union, and it no doubt won’t be our last. Junior Tan, an Apple Systems Consultant in Singapore, cooked this baby up in a 3D printer called MakerBot, complete with model files if, for some reason, you want to make one yourself. As a novelty item it’s pretty cool (especially for gun nuts), and goes to show the potential for DIY phone accessories using MakerBot, but it’s still not something I’d want to use on a day-to-day basis for obvious reasons.

Couldn’t imagine the phrase “it’s for you” being any more threatening.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
