T-Mobile has just announced the Nokia E73. It’s pretty much the E72, which has been somewhat of a success in Europe and Asia, though many people, including myself, still hold the belief that the E71 is the better device. Anyway, history lesson aside, what does the E73 have to offer? You get S60 3rd Edition, which is bullet proof, though may be hard to use for people new to Nokia. You get a 5 megapixel camera, 3.5 mm headphone jack, built in Ovi Maps with free turn by turn navigation, and best of all the ability to make calls over WiFi.
I’m not really sure how this works, whether you need a dedicated T-Mobile UMA enabled router, or any old router will do, but offloading voice and data is really smart on T-Mobile’s part. Former IntoMobile Editor Ben Smith made a video review of the software on the E72, and I imagine the E73 can’t be too much different except for say some T-Mobile icons and wallpapers. Check it out below:
You’ll be able to buy this device in 2 weeks, starting on June 16th, and it’ll cost you $70 with a 2 year contract.
