Verizon today introduced two “Group Communication” plans. For $4.99/month a Verizon customer under a family plan can get a number that once called or texted will call or text everyone in that group. You’re allowed to have only 1 non-Verizon member in that group. For $6.99/month and per line you can get a group number that does the same thing, and allows anyone to use the feature.
How awesome is that? You dial one number, and up to 20 people have their mobile phone ring at the same time. Assuming they all pick up, you’ve got yourself an instant party line. The same works for SMS as well.
Who says operators have ceased innovating the voice side of their business?
