Garmin-Asus has another Garminfone/nuvifone on the way to AT&T, so sayeth recent FCC filings. The filing shows support for 850 / 1900 MHz, suggesting AT&T availability at some point. T-Mobile just launched the Garminfone, so the branding strategy right now is pretty unclear - AT&T may has some kind of exclusive on the nuvifone name, or Garmin-Asus may have switched over to Garminfone permanently. I guess we’ll find out whenever this E600 launches.
Whatever the case may be, Garmin-Asus is more than likely sticking with Android for its series of navigation-centric mobile phones, especially after the lackluster introduction of the G60 (which ran plain-jane Linux) on AT&T. I’m curious to see if the E600 improves on T-Mobile’s handset, but we’ll have to wait for some kind of public announcement to get more details.
