Radio Shack tries to make good on Apple iPhone 4 shortages

If you preordered an Apple iPhone 4 from Radio Shack last week you may have been disappointed today because supplies were extremely limited (some who had a preorder iPhone didn’t even get one). Don’t worry though, as the Shack is trying to make things right.

In an e-mail to IntoMobile, the Shack apologized for the limited supplies and said it would be replenishing its stock this weekend and throughout July.

Furthermore, because of these inventory challenges, The Shack will extend their launch weekend offerings through July. Customers will receive a $20 accessory credit with all iPhone 4 purchases through July 25 and “Trade & Save” values* will remain in place through the 25th as well — trade in iPhone 3GS for $200 value or iPhone 3G for $100 value, regardless of memory size. Additionally, RadioShack’s iPhone $49.99 and $109.98 accessory bundles, available for ALL customers, will now remain valid through July 25.

While this won’t make up for those who lined up at Radio Shack for the handset but it’s a nice mea culpa. Besides, the Shack was pretty much screwed by its short supplies from Apple, so at least it’s trying to make the best out of a bad situation.

While I don’t know if the handset’s worth lining up for 6 hour or more, the iPhone 4 does look pretty darn nice. I had a chance to play with the new Apple smartphone last night and think it has a ton of subtle innovations.

I wasn’t blown away by the new form factor at first, but that changed once I got it in my hands. It just feels like a high-end device.

The Retina Display is also a quiet storm, as it didn’t blow me away at first glance like the Super AMOLED display on the Samsung Galaxy S did. But after browsing and zooming, it’s really nice to see how crisp it is and how it gets rid of “jaggies.”

Check out our unboxing video below and let us know how the iPhone 4 is treating you in the comments.
