Joining the 16 GB and 32 GB iPhone 3GS’ already up for offer, Fido has added the 8 GB iPhone 3GS to their lineup. If you’re tired of waiting for the iPhone 4, or you simply want to get your hands on an iPhone for as little money as possible, this will be one of your best options. The 8 GB 3GS comes with iOS 4, and all of the 3GS bells-and-whistles you’ve probably read about. Sure, there’s no retina display or front-facing camera… but the darn this is pretty solid, and last I checked I’ve never heard of any reception issues with the darn thing.
Pricing? You’re going to be looking at $99 on a typical 3-year contract, and $549 off-contract. A little puzzling to me… because Fido already has the 16 GB up for $99 on the same 3-year term… I can’t see them RAISING the price on the device, so maybe, just maybe the 8 GB will hit us at something a little less than $99. We’ll see.
After taking a closer look at the Fido website, it looks to me like they’ve been busy updating it. I can’t confirm this for sure (because I don’t take a mental snapshot of every site I see) but it sure looks like the iPhone section of the site has been beefed up. In fact, the section is called ‘iPhones’, and both the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G are proudly up for offer. As mentioned above, the iPhone 3GS starts at $99, with the 3G going down for $29. At the moment the new 8 GB 3GS still hasn’t made it to the site, but I’d look for it to arrive online real soon.
So what say you Canadian iPhone lovers? Is the iPhone 4 worth the wait, or are you sick-and-tired of all the troubles going on with the latest-gen iPhone? Do you figure the 3GS was solid enough for your daily travels? Or do you need all of the goodness that comes packed into iPhone 4?
Note: As I write this, the 16 GB iPhone 3GS in black is sold out.
