Motorola Droid X Available for Pre-Order at Best Buy… Again

After a stock shortage following their initial offer, Best Buy has confirmed that as of yesterday they’re taking pre-orders again for the Motorola Droid X on Verizon.  Best Buy says there’s still no confirmed launch date, but we’re pretty sure it’ll be available on the 15th. If already got on the HTC Incredible boat, Verizon is willing to switch you to Droid X preorders instead.

The Motorola’s latest and greatest has a luxurious 4.3″ 854 x  480 touchscreen, Android 2.1, 1 GHz processor,  HDMI-out, and 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording. In a lot of ways, it strikes me as an alternative to the HTC EVO 4G, especially for those who would rather have Verizon’s coverage than Sprint’s WiMAX. Take a look at our hands-on video and impressions of the Droid X and our Droid X review for a closer inspection.

When it does launch, the Droid X will be going for $199 on a two-year contract with Verizon.

i was told when i pre-ordered mine during the first round of pre-orders that the paper they have you fill out is scanned into the system and the SKU# is sent to inventory….that guarantees you the phone. They'll call you a few days before the release to schedule a pickup so you wont have to deal with the lines and the crowd on launch day. I asked at 2 different best buys and they both said that it would guarantee a phone but ive been reading on some sites that best buy isnt doing guarantees. Anybody have info on this ???

Ask your Best Buy Mobile Salesperson how many orders have been taken. If it's fewer than 10, it's safe to say you'll definitely get a phone. They're saying they can't guarantee a phone on launch day to cover their arses in case there's a last minute supply shortage nationwide.

When you pre-order, you're given a place in line and a sheet of paper with your name and information on it is placed in a binder (you're given a copy of this). When the droids come in, they go to the people who have the preorders 1st, and that piece of paper is literally taped to a droid. it's yours. All the rest are available to the general public.

they arent guaranteeing phones because with cell phone inventories are sketchy to say the least at this point, and best buy is depending on motorolla and verizon to deliver.. so they are not GUARANTEEING the phone becuase anything can go wrong.. but they are saying when they do get the phones, the people on the waitlist will get them in the order they signed up for it.. only thing i can say is if they dont have them on launch day, try verizon stores and just use the best buy gift card on accessories!
