Super Badminton 2010

Call me crazy, but when I noticed a new app for iPhone and iPod Touch titled ‘Super Badminton 2010’, I did a double-take. ‘Badminton on the iPhone!? You gotta be kidding me!’. Naturally, I had to take a closer look to see what it is all about.

Turns out the developers at Rolocule games put together what has to be the only Badminton simulation available in the App Store. Super Badminton 2010 gives you a pretty darn realistic shuttlecock smacking experience, right in the palm of your hand. The game makes use of your iPhone’s accelerometer by allowing for tilt controls, and the HD quality graphics make for a pretty darn enjoyable experience. There’s eight different players and five different courts to choose from… and three game modes (Quick Play, Exhibition and Tournament modes) ensure you don’t get tired of the game too quickly.

So there you have it. If you’re a die-hard Bad-mitton player and/or fan, this is probably the game you’ve been waiting for. All you need is an iPhone or iPod Touch with iOS 3.0 on-board, and you should be good to go.

Super Badminton 2010 comes smashing into the Apple App Store

Rolocule Games today announces Super Badminton 2010 for iPhone and iPod touch, as well as marks the debut of Rolocule’s sports games franchise – Super. The game provides a realistic experience with hyper-real shuttlecock physics, HD quality graphics and real shot animations. The game uses both touch and tilt controls to hit various shots. Featuring eight badminton players and five different badminton court environments, the game can be played in any of three modes.

Pune, India – Rolocule Games, an independent game development studio, announced today that Super Badminton 2010 is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch on the Apple App Store. It also marks the debut of Rolocule’s sports games franchise – Super.

In spite of being one of the most popular sports in the world, badminton has not received much attention from the video game industry because of the complexity involved in the physics of a shuttlecock and the uniqueness of shots. The shuttlecock used in badminton make the sport unique when compared to other racquet sports like tennis, squash, table tennis – which all use balls.

Developed using Rolocule’s proprietary game engine, this new title provides a realistic game experience on iPhone/iPod touch with hyper-real shuttlecock physics, HD quality graphics and real shot animations.

“Not only are we excited about the debut of our racquet sports games franchise Super, but we are also thrilled to bring Badminton as a game on the App Store” said Rohit Gupta, CEO of Rolocule Games. “The game pushed us to surpass the quality boundaries of sports games and showcase the visual brilliance of the iPhone platform.”

The game uses both touch and tilt controls to hit various badminton shots. Featuring eight players – each with unique characteristics – and five different court environments, the game can be played in any of three modes – Quick Play, Exhibition and Tournaments. The Exhibition mode offers customization of a match with selection of player, court type and five difficulty levels among other choices available. The Tournament mode features three tournaments with balanced difficulty similar to real tournaments. The player aims to become the ultimate professional by winning as many trophies and displaying them in the trophy cabinet.
