Looks like AT&T is using the Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) to steal some thunder away from the T-Mobile Vibrant, which is unfortunate because T-Mobile needs it. It looks like someone has already managed to get their hands on AT&T’s new Android device, the Samsung Captivate, ahead of its schedule launch on Sunday.
Why AT&T chose to give out an AT&T Captivate today is beyond us, but I’m sure they made the lucky customer who received it pretty happy. Officially launching on Sunday, this report confirms that AT&T now has the Samsung Captivate in stock at this point. You’re likely not going to be able to score one today, but it may not hurt to try.
With the launch just days away, you don’t have much longer to wait. The Captivate marks the first phone on the carrier that can muster the specs to be a real alternative to the iPhone, and with its current antenna situation, some may be a little turned off to Apple’s new baby. With the gorgeous 4 inch Super AMOLED display, DLNA, TV-Out capabilities, the Captivate has enough going on to sway users away from the new iPhone. If you just can’t wait, well, you probably need a little self-control, but you can also get the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S if you can deal with being on edge all the time.
I’d wait to be honest, because rumors of Dell’s Streak being right around the corner will give you another option, and the Streak may end up being just what you wanted. The Streak has the bigger screen, after all, so if screen size is your priority, the Streak will do you proud.
So what will you choose? Go with the Captivate, or the Dell Streak? I think both will make customers very happy.
