ZEM headphones are apparently high-end and not super expensive

Here’s one for those of you looking to buy premium headphones. These are called ZEM headphones and they use patented background noise cancellation technology invented at Syracuse University by renowned acoustic researcher Dr. Jozef Zwislocki. The trick is in using the physics-based sound filter that is touted to reduce noise at both low- and high-frequency ranges, lowering noise levels by up to 37 decibels. That in turn makes sure there is no sufficient electronics in the headphones — there are only two miniature electro-magnetic receivers that convert electrical signals into sound.

The technology mentioned should deliver pure, unaltered sound that “feels as if you’re in the recording studio.” The absence of complex electronics also lowers cost, while producing a headset weight of just two ounces.

Apparently professional studio musicians who have tried ZEM headphones for recording sessions have ordered more of them. You can take their footsteps the minute you pour out $90 for a pair of your own headphones…
