My current favorite when it comes to golf GPS applications, GolfLogix, has just added the Palm Pre to its growing list of compatible devices. Other smartphones that already play nice with GolfLogix include the iPhone 3G and 3GS, plus many BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile powered devices.
If you’ve never used a golf GPS app before on the course, make GolfLogix your first experience. Pop it open, and search for the course you’re about to play using GPS, or type in the course name manually. Once the course is loaded up on your device, you’ll be amazed at the amount of yardage information and stats tracking the app has to offer. Not only will you get yardages to the front, center and back of the green, you also get aerial images of each hole, 4-person scoring, and a heck of a lot more.
A 24-hour free trial for the Palm Pre is available. After your trial time runs out you will be asked to cough up some dough if you want to continue. The ‘Champion Membership’ gives you access to over 25,500 professionally mapped courses, a personalized stats tracking website, and much more. The cost? $39.95 a year. If you play a lot of golf, this is very much worth it. Not only will you play better on the course by knowing your yardages at a glance… but you’ll improve your game off the course as well by tracking your stats and scores. A quick analysis of your game will easily reveal areas that need improvement.
To view the full list of compatible devices (including the Palm Pre), or to download and try out GolfLogix for free right now, head on over to GolfGPS.com. If you want the benefits of a fully-featured golf GPS app, without dishing out the big bucks for a stand-alone unit… give GolfLogix a look.
