4G BlackBerry Code-Named Triton, Includes Front-Facing Camera?

An analyst from Frost & Sullivan is claiming that RIM’s 4G BlackBerry (code-named Triton) will be launched in December, include 4G and “a 5.0 megapixel camera with both front and back imaging”. Whether that means it’s one camera that swivels kind of like on the Notion Ink Adam, or if it’s just poorly worded and there’s really two cameras is anyone’s guess. There’s also a hint that RIM will be putting more focus on processors, but nothing specific about the Storm 3 is mentioned.

The only whispers about 4G and BlackBerry that we’ve heard lately were regarding the next generation Storm on Verizon, but that information seems unlikely after seeing a slide with Storm 3 features listed, where neither WiMAX nor LTE were mentioned. Without any kind of pictures or hard evidence, I’d take these analyst rumours with a grain of salt, but they’re always entertaining possibilities to keep in mind. An LTE BlackBerry with video conferencing and a 1 GHz processor would bring the smartphone family up to speed in a lot of ways with the competition, especially when combined with the visual upgrade in OS 6.  The rumoured mobile hotspot feature would be a natural fit for 4G speeds, but let’s wait until we hear something a little more solid before getting our hopes up.
