SimCity Deluxe is ready for the iPhone! It seemed like it was just 2 weeks ago when I was invited by EA to check out some of their upcoming iPhone & iPad games being released this summer. Who would have thought that today, one of those very games would finally be released on the iPhone. SimCity Deluxe is now officially on the App Store for your micromanaging, mobile gaming needs.

If you’re already an owner of SimCity for iPhone, you may be wondering why you should be interested in SimCity Deluxe when you already have all that SimCity goodness stuffed into your Apple smartphone. Well, SimCity Deluxe is vastly improved over the original game. The first thing players will notice is the improved scrolling system for smoothly moving around your city, as well as zooming in and out. Its visuals have been enhanced to closely resemble the visual style of SimCity 4 along with an improved UI with larger, more accessible buttons. Another cool feature is the addition of four distinct seasons, as well as seasonal disasters.

You can also do more in SimCity Deluxe as players can modify the terrain to their city to incorporate more water, land, and trees in their city. You can play seven scenarios, such as preparing your city to stage the “World Games,” or trying to make it through a heat wave. And for those of you who don’t enjoy building things from the ground up, SimCity Deluxe has seven starter cities which allows the player to jump into the middle of managing a bustling city.

SimCity has always been one of my favorite games. I had a lot of fun with SimCity for iPhone and since I saw it hands-on at EA’s media event two weeks ago, I’ve been looking forward to SimCity Deluxe as well. Now that it’s here, it’s time for me to become the mayor of St. Beebsburg once again!
