It won’t be long before we find out for sure, but a Spanish Google ad is showing that the BlackBerry 9800 will indeed be named the Torch as rumoured, not the Bold as it had been previously branded. The BlackBerry 9800 is understandably a pretty big deal for RIM, being both their first slider as well as their first phone to host OS 6.
AT&T will likely be going public with the device in a matter of hours, but here’s the low-down anyway: 4 GB of onboard storage memory, 512 MB of RAM, HVGA touchscreen (non-SurePress), Wi-Fi b/g/n, HSPA 3G with world roaming, GPS, and a 5 megapixel camera.
There’s a lot to say about what the 9800 and OS 6 means for RIM, but that’s another story altogether. Be sure to stick around for some live event coverage of the AT&T even later today.
