CardMunch - business card scanning app

CardMunch is brand new business card scanning application for the iPhone. However, it’s not yet another such app that relies only on OCR, but something arguably better.

First of all, it’s fast – apparently, it takes no more than 3 seconds to take a photo of a business card and start processing it.

Second, it’s way more accurate. The unique twist is that CardMunch hires real workers to verify each card because they want to “take accuracy to the next level.” So it’s not cheaper, but definitely more reliable solution.

CardMunch will recognize, capture, transcribe, and create a contact in your phone. You can also have a separate address books to keep business contacts separate from personal ones.

The application is available in two flavors – paid one, which costs $2.99 and comes with 10 credits, and a free one that includes 5 free business card scans. The free version is available as such (for free) only for a limited time. And when you’re done with your credits, you can always buy more right from within the app…

Finally, CardMunch will soon be available for Android and BlackBerry devices.

Does this mean that I will be able to use card munch with my Bold 9000 and it's poor resolution camera ?

      Hey Ariel,
Card2Contact converts your business cards into useful contact information. This is the first business card conversion app with human verification for BlackBerry smartphones. You should try this.

Hey Dusan, you should also check out Econtact Pro. We're another iPhone app that has been using manual transcription to turn business cards into contacts.

The main differences are price per card (we charge about half) and where the cards get transcribed (we use our own office rather than Mechanical Turk).

Hey Dusan, you should also check out Econtact Pro. We're another business card app that uses manual transcription. We use our own office of transcribers to get 100% accuracy and security and we charge about half as much per card.

We've been around for a while but we just released a new update for iOS 4. Let us know what you think. We're always looking for feedback!
