Telus has just released an iPhone app that lets you remotely schedule, record, and review TV shows if you happen to be a Telus Optik TV subscriber. You can also search through the program guide using the app, which is probably way more user-friendly than chugging through menus on your TV.
Some of the big features include HD video on-demand, pay-per-view, call display, and picture-in-picture browsing. The added ability to use your Xbox 360 as the set-top box is just the icing on the cake. Rogers’ mobile TV app is more about streaming video to the device, but the content is all pretty well set in stone. Optik sounds like a pretty solid digital TV service, though I don’t subscribe to any kind of cable myself – you lovely internet gremlins are all the entertainment I need.
It’s only on iPhone and iPod touch for now, but a BlackBerry app is on the way, and Android is not too far behind. Download link to the free app in iTunes is below.
