Golf fans, it’s time to load up a must-have iPhone app… One that will make your PGA Championship week that much more enjoyable. The PGA has just announced that an enhanced PGA Championship App for iPhone and iPod Touch has been released, and it provides a whole whackload of golf goodness for you to take in this week (and weekend) during the 92nd PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
Optimized for iOS 4 and the retina display, the app is packed full of features to help you get the most of your PGA Championship weekend. View custom leaderboards, up-to-the-second news, tips, trends, round recaps, interviews and a heck of a lot more.
Of course, there’s also detailed information on all of the players in the field, and a course overview that breaks down each of the holes in details. Knowing the players and the course will make for a much more enjoyable viewing experience!
If live video is your thing, a $1.99 upgrade is available, and it will enable live video of the marquee groups for all four days… PLUS, live streaming video of the par 3 holes. Would I pick up the upgrade? Probably not, my TV does just fine, thank you. But if you find yourself in a pinch without a television nearby, this could really come in handy.

Note: So who do you think is going to take the years’ last major? Is Tiger done for 2010? Can Hunter Mahan repeat after his win last week at the Bridgestone? Perhaps the steady play and solid putting of someone like a Steve Stricker will come through? We’ll all know by Sunday… But until then… load up this app and enjoy!
Note to iPad users: If you download the iPhone app to your iPad and trigger the video capabilities, I’m told the high quality of the streaming video will look just great on your larger display. Just FYI!
