It was inevitable that a tablet manufacturer like Hanvon would puts its tablet alongside an Apple iPad and challenge the two devices to a duel. The duel is immortalized within a four minute YouTube video that features the two devices competing on browser speed, zooming, YouTube video playback, typing, email, and more. Unfortunately for the iPad fans in the audience, the Windows 7 tablets performs as well as, and even outperforms, the iPad on many occasions.
The Hanvon tablet is presumably one of many Windows 7 tablets being produced for launch later this year and apparently has some muscle under its hood. When loading web pages in the browser and watching streaming video, it screams past the iPad. An achievement that can be credited to the dedicated processor and graphics chipset of its x86 architecture.
Though its specs and underlying hardware may trump the iPad’s hardware, the Windows 7 tablet lacks the finesse and ease of use associated with the Apple’s tablet device. There is no question that the iPhone OS trumps Windows 7 when it comes to touch-friendliness, ease of use, and media integration via iTunes and the App Store.
In the end, it all comes down to personal preference and the tasks that you need to accomplish on your selected device. At least with Android, webOS, BlackBerry, iOS, and Windows 7 showing up on tablets, everyone will have a wide variety of devices and platforms from which to choose.
